A Quick Note on the QUEEN of the REALM

Includes and explains the Trigger Warning you should have received with NIGHTfall #9

I’m not British. I’ve never toured the castles of England. The only QE2 I’ve ever seen in person was a cruise ship that has, according to Wikipedia, since taken on a second life as a floating hotel in Dubai.

My personal opinions on the British Monarchy as an institution don’t matter for much, but I have some friends in deep mourning over Queen Elizabeth II’s passing and others who are, let’s say, having a less mournful morning due to their personal experience with British colonialism.

Whatever feels you’re feeling, those feels are fine. You have my support either way.

Today’s NIGHTfall episode, Day 401: ELOPE, was written weeks ago. It has nothing to do with actual people or events in our world, but does coincidentally deal with a Queen’s death and the emotional toll placed on a loyal subject who could have (and actually might have) saved her life.

The story went out without a trigger warning because I didn’t think of it in time. Consider this your trigger warning.
