Mythic Monday: Series Launch with a Bonus
BECOMING HERCULES goes live this week! How to find it and what to expect...
Dear Mythic Reader…
Sometime this week, a tech worker at Amazon will flip the switch that allows public access to Becoming Hercules and other serials on the Kindle Vella platform. You can read more about the serial on my author site and at Mythoversal.
Once I’ve confirmed that the story is available, I’ll send out a short update to let you know.
The first three episodes will be available for free on the Kindle app for iOS and on the Amazon.com website. The next two episodes will be available in exchange for Tokens. More on those below.
These five episodes will complete the first two sequences of the serial:
“The Seventh Seed” is a three-episode sequence that centers Pyrrha in a character-defining incident set in the Theban countryside two years before the start of the serial’s main action. Pyrrha’s ancestor hatched from a dragon’s tooth. This sequence involves three dragon-blooded siblings, one raging bull, a Greek goddess, some light time travel, no parental supervision, and a doomsday weapon capable of destroying the world, all available for reading at no cost or obligation.
“Nonchalant Blinking” is a two-episode sequence that centers Aklis in an act of defiance that goes badly and sets up the serial’s first romantic entanglement. Alkis is super strong but also incredibly unlucky.
The Bonus
You won’t have to wait for the start of the third sequence, as originally planned. I’ve moved Episode Six forward a week in order to introduce you to our third major cast member right away:
“Reviewing the Troops” is a six-episode sequence that introduces and centers Iphicles in a major change of circumstance that will drive the story forward into new directions.
The rest of “Reviewing the Troops” will unfold on Mythic Mondays through the summer.
What to Expect
When the serial goes live, Amazon will update its links and provide a way for readers to purchase Tokens. Tokens are the currency of Kindle Vella, providing a way for readers to purchase tiny bits of story for tiny bits of micro-currency.
Please let me know if you want a way to read the story without such complications. With enough interest, I’ll be able to set up a simpler alternative that cuts micro-transactions and tech behemoths out of the loop between us.
Enjoy the start of Becoming Hercules this week, and be sure to grab your free copy of Hercules Meets His Match if you haven’t already. Thanks for reading!

Mythoversal is dedicated to broadening representation in classical tales by amplifying historically marginalized identities and restoring traditions erased by centuries of gatekeeping.
Our entry point is the multicultural city of Thebes in the land of Mythoversal Hellas, where we disrupt and deconstruct Greek, Hellenic, Roman, and Byzantine sources to create a mythic environment that's inclusive, inviting, and relevant. This setting provides a window into the past and a mirror for today.
More Stuff To Read
Summer reading continues with The Manuscript by Marie Ryan Connolly.
Hidden for over six hundred years, in Spain, a recently discovered journal tells the story of a great lady, the true driving force behind the sultans of the Nasrid Dynasty.
